Lymphoma Specialist, specializing in lymphoma
Dr. Ariela Noy, MD, is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist specializing in the care of patients with Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and other cancers of the lymphoid immune system. She has been a practicing physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center since 1997, where she works as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering expert, patient-centered care. Her path to oncology began early, inspired in seventh grade by a biography of an MSK cancer researcher, an experience that set her on a lifelong course in cancer care and research. She approaches her work with a commitment to patient education, helping individuals and families navigate a cancer diagnosis one step at a time, with the support of doctors, nurses, social workers, and other staff.
Her research interests center on new treatments, imaging, and quality of life in lymphoma. A central focus of her work has been the development of more targeted therapies that spare the immune system compared to older chemotherapy regimens. Her clinical investigation of ibrutinib as a targeted treatment option for marginal zone lymphoma contributed directly to its approval by the US Food and Drug Administration. She has also explored promising immune-based approaches, including checkpoint inhibitors and chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy. On a national level, she served as Chair of the Lymphoma Working Group for the AIDS Malignancy Consortium, a National Cancer Institute-sponsored research group, and served on the National Institutes of Health committee overseeing the national cooperative group lymphoma research agenda. Her contributions have helped shape national guidelines for lymphoma treatment.
At MSK, Dr. Noy serves on multiple institutional committees, including the Quality Assurance Committee for the Department of Medicine and the Department of Radiology, as well as the Fertility Preservation Committee. She is an engaged mentor to students from the high school through postgraduate levels, and she values learning about her patients' individual interests and needs as part of providing whole-person care. Outside of medicine, she maintains an active life in New York City, practicing Ashtanga yoga daily, singing in a chamber choir, and painting in her studio.
