Radiation Oncologist
Christopher Jackson, MD, is a radiation oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) specializing in the treatment of cancer in both pediatric and adult populations. He completed his medical school training and residency at MSK, where he conducted clinical research focused on pediatric and adult brain tumors and spine metastases. Dr. Jackson sees patients at Memorial Hospital and the New York Proton Center in New York City. His clinical practice covers a broad range of diagnoses, including sarcoma, brain and spinal tumors, neuroblastoma, lymphoma, leukemia, and Wilms' tumor in children and adolescents, as well as brain tumors, brain metastases, spine tumors, and spinal metastases in adults. He is experienced in advanced radiation techniques, including proton therapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, intra-operative radiation therapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy, and stereotactic radiosurgery.
Dr. Jackson's commitment to oncology is rooted in a deeply personal experience. At age 14, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and underwent more than three years of chemotherapy. That experience, and the relationships he formed with his care team, shaped his desire to become an oncologist. His research during medical school and residency focused on maximizing the effectiveness of cancer treatment while reducing side effects, producing first-author publications and award-winning abstracts that led to meaningful changes in clinical practice. His awareness of the physical and emotional toll of cancer treatment informs both his research priorities and his approach to patient care.
In the clinic, Dr. Jackson takes time to understand each patient as an individual, drawing on his own history as a cancer survivor to address their concerns about how treatment may affect their life. He brings a perspective grounded in empathy, personal experience, and medical expertise to every patient encounter. Outside of medicine, he is an avid marathon runner who finds the sport meditative and connected to the challenges he faced during his own illness. He enjoys spending time in Central Park with his wife and their dog, Rivers, and carries the value he places on relationships and loved ones into his work with patients and families.
