Dr. Andrew B. Lassman, MD, is a nationally recognized leader in neuro-oncology and serves as Chief of the Division of Neuro-Oncology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian. He earned both BS and MS degrees in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University, followed by his MD from Columbia University's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his internal medicine internship, neurology residency at Columbia’s Neurological Institute, and a fellowship in neuro-oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He now leads clinical care at Columbia, treating patients with primary brain tumors and metastases via in-person and telehealth services, and holds the John Harris Professorship of Neurology.

He is widely respected for his translational research in gliomas and brain metastases, directing molecularly guided clinical trials across phases I through III. He serves as Associate Dean of Clinical Trials and Associate Director for Clinical Research at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, overseeing trial design and protocol review. He led a key phase II trial of selinexor in recurrent glioblastoma, yielding durable responses in a subset of patients, and co-authored the phase I/II trial of the EGFR-targeted antibody–drug conjugate depatuxizumab mafodotin in EGFR‑amplified glioblastoma. He also contributes to the global GBM AGILE adaptive platform trial, working to accelerate new agents for newly diagnosed and recurrent disease.

Dr. Lassman has received numerous honors for both his patient care and research leadership, including the Preuss Award in Neuro-Oncology, the Boyer Clinical Research Award from Memorial Sloan Kettering, and the Gary Lichtenstein Humanitarian Award. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and was named Clinician of the Year in Neurology at Columbia in 2022. He regularly mentors trainees and holds leadership roles in neuro-oncology education. Through his integrated clinical leadership, high-impact research, and trial oversight, Dr. Lassman is recognized as a top expert in brain tumor treatment and research.
