Dr. David A. Fishman directs Gynecologic Oncology and the Cancer Center at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens and is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medicine. His clinic combines high-resolution pelvic imaging, tumor-specific next-generation sequencing, and serum biomarkers to stratify risk before therapy begins. Weekly multidisciplinary boards align surgery, systemic treatment, and fertility or genetic counseling, ensuring that every plan reflects pathology and patient priorities.

A scientist as well as a surgeon, Dr. Fishman founded the National Ovarian Cancer Early Detection Program in 1999 and built an international biobank of more than 50 000 specimens. Discoveries from this resource clarified how lysophosphatidic-acid signaling, actinin-α4, and microRNA-181a drive metastasis, work published in Nature group journals and incorporated into ongoing biomarker trials. Federal and foundation awards support this bench-to-bedside agenda, underscoring his commitment to intercepting cancer at the earliest, most treatable stage.

Education and advocacy complete his profile. Dr. Fishman mentors fellows across three continents, edits major journals, and leads virtual masterclasses that disseminate sentinel-node algorithms and fertility-sparing strategies to low-resource settings. Community programs in Queens and Long Island offer bilingual navigation and genetic screening, reflecting his view that precision medicine must be paired with equitable access.
