Gastrointestinal Medical Oncologist, specializing in Gastrointestinal Cancers
Dr. Eileen M. O’Reilly, MD, is a highly regarded gastrointestinal medical oncologist and physician-scientist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), where she serves as Section Head for Hepatopancreaticobiliary and Neuroendocrine Cancers in the Department of Medicine. She also holds the Winthrop Rockefeller Endowed Chair in Medical Oncology and co-directs the Pancreatic Cancer Research Center at MSKCC. Dr. O’Reilly earned her medical degree from Trinity College Dublin, completed her residency in internal medicine, and pursued fellowship training in medical oncology at MSKCC. Board-certified in medical oncology, she provides comprehensive care to patients with pancreatic, bile duct, liver, and other gastrointestinal cancers, offering both in-person and virtual consultations.
She is internationally recognized for her leadership in advancing therapeutic strategies for pancreatic and gastrointestinal malignancies. Her research focuses on the development of novel chemotherapy combinations, precision-targeted therapies, and immunotherapeutic approaches, with particular expertise in PARP inhibition for BRCA-mutated pancreatic cancer. Dr. O’Reilly has led and participated in numerous phase I–III clinical trials and has authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications. She serves on the National Cancer Institute’s GI Steering Committee and scientific advisory boards for multiple cancer research foundations, helping to shape national treatment standards.
A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. O’Reilly trains oncology fellows and junior investigators while continuing to advocate for translational research and multidisciplinary cancer care. She is a frequent speaker at international oncology conferences and plays a pivotal role in developing clinical guidelines for gastrointestinal oncology. Through her innovative research, patient-focused philosophy, and national leadership in the field, Dr. O’Reilly continues to influence the evolution of treatment for complex gastrointestinal cancers.
