Dr. Elizabeth Plimack

Dr. Elizabeth R. Plimack, MD, MS, is a globally recognized medical oncologist and clinical trialist specializing in genitourinary malignancies, with a focus on bladder and kidney cancers. She serves as Deputy Director of the Fox Chase Cancer Center, where she also holds the position of Chief of the Division of Genitourinary Medical Oncology. Dr. Plimack earned her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She pursued fellowship training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Chicago and holds a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.

A trailblazer in the development of immunotherapy and targeted therapy approaches for urothelial carcinoma, Dr. Plimack has led pivotal clinical trials that have reshaped the treatment landscape for bladder cancer. Her research focuses on integrating biomarker-driven strategies into clinical practice, advancing neoadjuvant and adjuvant immunotherapy, and developing rational combinations to overcome therapeutic resistance. Dr. Plimack has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications and serves as a national principal investigator for multiple NCI-sponsored trials.

In addition to her clinical research leadership, Dr. Plimack is a dedicated mentor and educator, guiding the careers of young oncologists and fostering collaborative research efforts within the GU oncology community. She plays an active role in national guideline development and serves on steering committees for major cooperative groups and industry-sponsored trials. Dr. Plimack’s contributions continue to drive innovation in genitourinary oncology, improving outcomes and expanding treatment options for patients with bladder and kidney cancers.
