Dr. Hagop M. Kantarjian

Dr. Hagop M. Kantarjian, MD, is a world-renowned hematologist-oncologist specializing in leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes. He serves as Chair of the Department of Leukemia at MD Anderson Cancer Center and holds the Samsung Distinguished Leukemia Chair in Cancer Medicine. Dr. Kantarjian earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and pursued fellowship training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at MD Anderson. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology and is widely acclaimed for his transformative contributions to leukemia treatment.

Dr. Kantarjian has led numerous pivotal clinical trials that have revolutionized the management of acute and chronic leukemias, including the development of tyrosine kinase inhibitors for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and novel targeted therapies for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
