Dr. Lauren A. Byers, MD, is an internationally recognized thoracic medical oncologist and physician-scientist specializing in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and molecular therapeutics. She serves as Professor in the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Byers earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and pursued fellowship training in Medical Oncology at MD Anderson. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and is widely recognized for her contributions to translational research in thoracic oncology.

Dr. Byers’ research has been instrumental in defining molecular subtypes of SCLC and developing targeted therapies and immunotherapies for patients with limited treatment options.
