Dr. Lisa D. Yee, MD, is a nationally esteemed breast surgical oncologist and translational researcher renowned for her leadership in breast cancer prevention and high‑risk patient care at City of Hope. A graduate of Yale University School of Medicine, she completed her surgical residency at Oregon Health & Science University and Mount Sinai Medical Center (Miami), followed by fellowship training in surgical oncology. Board‑certified in general surgery, Dr. Yee has devoted over three decades to advancing clinical protocols and academic science in breast cancer risk management and survivorship.

Dr. Yee is best known for pioneering clinical trials that investigate nutritional and botanical interventions to reduce breast cancer risk and mitigate treatment side effects. Her research includes studies on omega‑3 fatty acid supplementation in hormone-receptor–negative breast cancer survivors and innovative curcumin formulations to alleviate aromatase inhibitor–induced joint pain. With more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and active involvement in developing prevention-focused frameworks, she has shaped new paradigms in personalized oncology and symptom management.

A dedicated mentor and program leader, Dr. Yee launched a high-risk breast clinic in 1995 and has continuously championed equity and access in cancer prevention research. She trains surgical oncology fellows and collaborates across multidisciplinary teams, integrating precision medicine, population science, and advocacy to optimize outcomes.
