Dr. Mary Maluccio

Dr. Mary Maluccio, MD, MPH, FACS, is a distinguished surgical oncologist specializing in hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and neuroendocrine tumors. She serves as Chief of Surgical Oncology at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and directs the Neuroendocrine and Rare Cancer Program within LCMC Health. Dr. Maluccio earned her medical degree from New York Medical College, completed her residency in general surgery at New York University Medical Center, and pursued fellowship training in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She also earned a Master of Public Health from Columbia University. She is board-certified in General Surgery with subspecialty certification in Complex General Surgical Oncology.

Dr. Maluccio’s clinical expertise encompasses complex liver and pancreas resections, minimally invasive surgery, and multidisciplinary management of rare malignancies. Her research has addressed outcomes in hepatobiliary and neuroendocrine cancers, with emphasis on biomarkers, surgical innovation, and equitable access to advanced cancer care. She has contributed to clinical trials and programmatic initiatives that have expanded treatment opportunities for patients with rare and advanced tumors. Her scholarship and leadership have positioned her as a valued authority in surgical oncology program development.

Beyond her clinical and research accomplishments, Dr. Maluccio is an established educator and mentor. She has trained numerous surgical residents and fellows in hepatopancreatobiliary and oncologic surgery and is recognized for her dedication to teaching technical excellence and multidisciplinary collaboration. She has played a pivotal role in building specialized cancer programs in Louisiana, expanding access to high-level surgical oncology care in the region.
