Dr. Minesh P. Mehta, MD, is an internationally recognized radiation oncologist specializing in central nervous system malignancies, including primary and metastatic brain tumors. He serves as Deputy Director and Chief of Radiation Oncology at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, where he also leads the Clinical Research and Translational Research programs. Dr. Mehta earned his medical degree from the University of Zambia and completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Wisconsin, where he later served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Human Oncology. Over the course of his career, he has held numerous national leadership roles and built a legacy of advancing precision radiotherapy in neuro-oncology.
Dr. Mehta is widely known for his pioneering work in image-guided radiotherapy, proton therapy, and novel treatment combinations for brain tumors such as glioblastoma, anaplastic astrocytoma, and brain metastases. His research has helped establish current standards for stereotactic radiosurgery and chemoradiotherapy in neuro-oncology. He has authored over 400 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to dozens of textbooks, and served as principal investigator for national and international clinical trials. His translational work continues to focus on integrating advanced imaging and molecular biomarkers to personalize treatment and improve outcomes for patients with high-risk brain tumors.
In addition to his clinical and research accomplishments, Dr. Mehta is a respected educator and mentor to medical students, residents, and junior faculty. He has held leadership positions in organizations such as the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and the American Board of Radiology. Board-certified in radiation oncology, he is recognized for his analytical approach, patient-centered care, and commitment to advancing therapeutic innovation. Through his leadership in radiation oncology, translational science, and academic mentorship, Dr. Mehta continues to shape the evolving landscape of neuro-oncologic treatment.
