Dr. Ritu Salani, MD, is an internationally recognized gynecologic oncologist with expertise in the treatment of ovarian, uterine, cervical, and vulvar cancers. She serves as Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at UCLA Health and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Salani earned her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Medical University and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Summa Health System. She went on to complete a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital and is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology.
Dr. Salani is widely known for her leadership in clinical trials, immunotherapy, and the integration of novel therapies for gynecologic malignancies. Her research focuses on treatment strategies for recurrent and advanced cervical cancer, as well as quality-of-life outcomes and disparities in cancer care. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and has helped shape national guidelines through her work with cooperative research groups and national advisory panels. As an investigator and thought leader, Dr. Salani plays a key role in the advancement of personalized cancer therapies and the development of multidisciplinary care models.
In addition to her clinical and research accomplishments, Dr. Salani is a committed educator and leader in academic medicine. She mentors fellows and residents in gynecologic oncology and serves in leadership roles within the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the National Cancer Institute's Cervical Cancer Task Force. Through her dedication to advancing research, clinical innovation, and education, Dr. Salani continues to influence the future direction of gynecologic cancer care on a national and international scale.
