Dr. Rohan Ramakrishna, MD, is a nationally recognized neurosurgeon specializing in the treatment of brain tumors, skull base disorders, and metastatic disease of the central nervous system. He serves as Chief of Neurosurgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Ramakrishna earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he also completed his undergraduate studies. He completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Washington and pursued fellowship training in neurosurgical oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is board-certified in Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Ramakrishna is widely known for his expertise in awake brain surgery, complex glioma resection, endoscopic skull base surgery, and the management of brain metastases. He serves as Co-Director of the William Rhodes and Louise Tilzer-Rhodes Center for Glioblastoma and Director of the Brain Metastases Program at Weill Cornell Medicine. His research focuses on the development of innovative therapies for glioblastoma, including drug delivery systems, cancer vaccines, and nanoparticle-based treatment strategies. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is actively involved in clinical trials aimed at improving outcomes for patients with malignant brain tumors.
In addition to his clinical and research leadership, Dr. Ramakrishna is a dedicated educator and mentor, training residents and fellows in advanced neurosurgical techniques and oncologic care. He is an active member of national professional organizations, including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. Through his commitment to surgical innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and academic excellence, Dr. Ramakrishna continues to advance the field of neurosurgical oncology at both the institutional and national levels.
