Dr. Selwyn M. Vickers, MD, FACS, is a nationally recognized surgeon and academic leader specializing in pancreatic diseases and cancer. He serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he is responsible for guiding one of the world’s leading institutions in cancer research, education, and clinical care. Dr. Vickers earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he also completed his surgical residency and a fellowship in surgical oncology. He is board-certified in General Surgery and has held prominent leadership roles, including Senior Vice President for Medicine and Dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
A highly regarded investigator, Dr. Vickers has focused his research on understanding pancreatic cancer biology and developing novel therapeutic strategies. He has led NIH- and foundation-funded studies that have advanced knowledge of pancreatic tumor growth and resistance pathways.
