Dr. Shelby Terstriep

Dr. Shelby Terstriep, MD, is a well-regarded medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer and supportive care in oncology. She serves as Chair of the Department of Oncology and Cancer Committee at Sanford Health in North Dakota and is also Medical Director of the Sanford Cancer Survivorship Program. Dr. Terstriep earned her medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and completed her residency in internal medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She then pursued fellowship training in hematology and oncology at Mayo Clinic. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.

A committed clinician and innovator, Dr. Terstriep has been instrumental in building survivorship programs and advancing supportive oncology services across Sanford Health. Her clinical focus includes the treatment of breast malignancies, the integration of survivorship care into standard oncology practice, and developing multidisciplinary approaches to improve quality of life for patients during and after cancer therapy. She has contributed to research and initiatives aimed at expanding access to care and improving outcomes for cancer patients in rural and regional settings.

In addition to her clinical leadership, Dr. Terstriep is an active educator, mentor, and advocate for patient-centered oncology care. She has held numerous leadership roles within Sanford Health, helping shape oncology service delivery across the system, and she has received recognition for her dedication to advancing survivorship as a specialty within oncology.
