Dr. Mrinal M. Gounder

Dr. Mrinal M. Gounder, MD, is a medical oncologist specializing in the care of patients with sarcomas of soft tissue and bone at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Sarcoma is a broad category encompassing more than 50 distinct rare cancer types, each with unique characteristics and behavior. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of experts in surgery, radiation, pathology, cancer biology, and nursing, Dr. Gounder delivers individualized care tailored to each specific sarcoma type. He is also fluent in Tamil, Hindi, and English, allowing him to connect with a diverse patient population.

Dr. Gounder's research focuses on unraveling the complexity of individual sarcoma subtypes and developing new targeted therapies, moving away from a one-size-fits-all treatment approach. He serves as lead investigator on multiple clinical trials within the sarcoma division and holds a concurrent role as an attending physician in the Phase I Clinical Trials program.
