Dr. Samuel H. Selesnick, MD, FACS, is a distinguished surgeon and neurotologist with over 25 years of experience treating conditions affecting the ear, skull base, and surrounding structures. He serves as a member of the neurosurgery team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and holds appointments as Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology and Professor of Otolaryngology in Neurological Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College, where he actively mentors students during their rotations through the department. His clinical expertise spans the full range of ear and skull base conditions, including acoustic neuromas, meningiomas, epidermoids, and glomus tumors, which he treats through observation, radiosurgery, and skull base microsurgery performed in close collaboration with neurosurgeons. He also manages complex ear-related conditions such as hearing loss, otosclerosis, cholesteatoma, and facial nerve tumors.
A respected national and international leader in his field, Dr. Selesnick has served as Past President of both the American Otological Society and the American Neurotology Society, the nation's largest specialty organization of neurotologists and skull base surgeons. He has served on or chaired numerous committees for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the Triological Society, the American College of Surgeons, and others, and sits on the board of directors of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, which honored him with its Certificate of Honor in 1996. His research contributions include serving as principal investigator on multiple clinical trials and publishing extensively in peer-reviewed literature. In 2019, he was appointed Editor-in-Chief of The Laryngoscope, a leading journal on head and neck disorders, and also serves on the editorial board of Otology and Neurotology and has been a guest editor of The Otolaryngologic Clinics of North America.
Dr. Selesnick is deeply committed to patient education, taking care to ensure each patient fully understands their condition and the available treatment options, with the goal of providing confidence and reassurance through every step of care. He lectures widely on ear-related, neurotologic, and skull base topics, bringing the latest advances to colleagues across the country and around the world. Outside of medicine, he enjoys sports and traveling with his family.
