Boosting Fitness and Strength for Young Survivors of Cell Transplantation
NCT05194397 · RecruitingThis trial looks at how exercise and a supplement called nicotinamide riboside (NR) can improve muscle strength and fitness in young people who survived hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). The main goal is to see how much muscle strength changes after 16 weeks of this program. The study also measures other factors like grip strength and aerobic capacity.

Who can join
This trial is for young people aged 10 to 30 years. It includes both males and females who can speak and understand English. Participants should have certain blood cancers or other conditions that required a specific type of transplant. They must be between 6 and 48 months after their transplant. The trial team will check to confirm if someone is eligible to join.
What happens during the trial
Participants will be placed into different groups by chance. Some will receive the NR supplement, while others will get a placebo, which looks the same but has no active ingredients. Everyone in the trial will also take part in an exercise program at home. Some will do exercises along with the NR supplement, while others will do exercises with the placebo.

The trial is sponsored by the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Other organizations involved include the National Institutes of Health, City of Hope Medical Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, National Cancer Institute, and University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sogol Mostoufi-Moab is the principal investigator leading the study.
