About this trial
This study looks at whether two types of chemotherapy, given after surgery, can help people with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma. The main goal is to see if treatment through the abdomen (intraperitoneal) or through the vein (intravenous) is more effective after surgery. Doctors will compare the outcomes of both treatments to find out which one works better.
This is a Phase 2 trial, which means it is looking at how well the treatments work and how safe they are. The trial is regulated by the FDA and aims to include about 64 participants.
Who can join
Adults aged 18 and older can join if they are diagnosed with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma and are planning to undergo surgery to remove cancer. They should be in good health overall, with certain blood and organ function requirements. Some people may not be able to join, including those who have had certain previous treatments or other serious health issues. The trial team will confirm eligibility before participation.

What happens in the study
Participants will be placed into two groups. One group will receive intravenous chemotherapy with pemetrexed and cisplatin for 4 to 6 cycles. The other group will receive chemotherapy through the abdomen after surgery, using a catheter for treatment with pemetrexed and either cisplatin or carboplatin. Everyone will be given treatment based on their assigned group, which is not chosen randomly.
