About this trial
This trial studies a special scan called 64Cu-DOTA-trastuzumab PET/MRI for patients with HER2+ breast cancer that has spread to the brain. The goal is to see if this scan can help find cancer in the brain and if it shows how well patients respond to treatment. This may help doctors know how to better treat this type of cancer.
The trial ID is NCT05376878. It is a Phase 4 trial, which means it is looking at how well the treatment works and how safe it is. About 10 people will take part in this trial, and it is regulated by the FDA.
Who can join
Women aged 18 and older with HER2 positive breast cancer that has spread to the brain can join. They should be able to receive treatment without any serious heart issues. The trial team will confirm who is eligible.

Anatomic Stage IV Breast Cancer AJCC v8, Metastatic Breast Carcinoma, Metastatic Malignant Neoplasm in the Brain

What happens in the study
Participants will receive trastuzumab through an IV on the first day. Then, they will get the investigational scan the next day. They will have brain MRIs every 6 weeks for 24 weeks and then every 9 weeks until the cancer changes. They will also receive trastuzumab deruxtecan every 21 days if their condition allows it.
