About this trial
This study looks at offering genetic testing for cancer risk to women visiting a gynecology clinic. The goal is to see if this testing can be done easily and if patients accept it. Researchers want to find out how many women choose to undergo the testing and how many have gene changes that may increase cancer risk.
The trial's ID is NCT06926816. This is a non-drug study, and it plans to include about 600 participants.
Who can join
Women aged 25 to 39 years who are receiving gynecologic care at a specific NYU Langone Health site can join. However, women with a personal history of certain cancers or who have already had genetic testing for ovarian cancer cannot participate. The trial team will confirm who is eligible.
The study team makes the final call on eligibility.
What happens in the study
Participants will either take a genetic screening test using saliva or decline the test. Those who take the test will learn about any gene changes and can talk to specialists about reducing their cancer risk. All participants will have access to genetic counseling if they want it.
