About this trial
This study looks at how brain development differs in children treated for retinoblastoma who have had multiple exposures to anesthesia. Researchers want to understand if these exposures impact neurodevelopment compared to children who have not had anesthesia. This trial focuses on pediatric retinoblastoma, a type of eye cancer in children.
The trial's ID number is NCT03546387. This is an observational study, meaning it will look at outcomes without giving a treatment. It is not related to any FDA-regulated drugs or devices. The trial aims to include about 75 participants.
Who can join
Children aged 6 to 17 years can join. Both boys and girls are welcome. Those who have certain health issues or past experiences with anesthesia or other treatments for retinoblastoma may not be able to participate. The trial team will confirm who is eligible.
Conditions
Pediatric Retinoblastoma, Retinoblastoma
The study team makes the final call on eligibility.
What happens in the study
Participants will take part in a series of tests to assess their cognitive abilities. These tests include measuring IQ, verbal learning, visual-motor skills, dexterity, and behavioral functioning. Everyone in the study will complete these assessments to help researchers gather information on brain function after anesthesia exposure.
