Finding the Best Imaging Method for Thyroid Cancer Treatment
NCT03841617 · RecruitingThis study looks at how to measure treatment effects in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer. Researchers want to see how well a special imaging method, called 124I-PET/CT, works for patients preparing for treatment. The main goal is to compare this method under two different preparation techniques. One uses a hormone injection, and the other requires stopping hormone medications. This study will help find the best way to treat thyroid cancer.

Who can join
Adults aged 18 to 90 can join this trial. It is open to both men and women with diagnosed thyroid cancer who have had surgery and still have disease. Participants should have specific conditions that show their cancer may have spread. Some patients might not be able to join, such as those who have already had treatment that didn't work or have certain serious health issues. The trial team will confirm who can participate.
What happens during the trial
Participants will receive two types of imaging tests: one after using a hormone injection and the other after stopping hormone medications. Everyone will take part in both tests. They will also receive treatment with a special radioactive iodine that helps kill cancer cells. The researchers will follow each participant's progress for five years, checking their health at regular intervals.
