About this trial
This study looks at how practical it is to use a tool called the Breast Reconstruction Decision Aid (RECONJOINT). The goal is to see if this tool can help people considering breast reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy. The study focuses on those affected by breast cancer.
This trial has ID number NCT07335354. It is not regulated by the FDA and aims to include about 131 participants.
Who can join
Anyone over 18 years old can join. Participants must have a diagnosis of breast cancer or a genetic risk for it. They should be considering breast reconstruction surgery. People who do not speak English or are not considering reconstruction cannot join. This study is open to both men and women, but men with breast cancer cannot participate as patients.

What happens in the study
Participants will be divided into groups. Some will be in a focus group where they receive usual care. Others will get the RECONJOINT decision aid along with enhanced usual care. Doctors involved will either provide usual care or participate in the intervention, chosen randomly.
