Reducing muscle loss and improving strength during prostate cancer treatment
NCT06112990 · RecruitingThis clinical trial is looking at how creatine monohydrate and resistance training can help keep muscle strength and slow down prostate cancer growth. The main goal is to see if this combination can improve energy, physical ability, and overall quality of life. Participants will join a 52-week program that includes exercise sessions twice a week through telehealth.

Who can join
Men aged 18 and older with metastatic prostate cancer who are currently receiving hormone treatment can join. They should not have had certain treatments recently and need to be willing to follow the exercise and supplement plan. The trial team will confirm who is eligible to participate.
What happens during the trial
Participants will be randomly placed into one of two groups. One group will do resistance training and take creatine supplements. The other group will also do resistance training but will take a placebo, which is a harmless substance that looks like creatine. Both groups will do their workouts at home with guidance through telehealth.

The trial is sponsored by the University of Utah. Dr. Adriana Coletta from the Huntsman Cancer Institute is the principal investigator. The National Cancer Institute also collaborates on this study.
