About this trial
This study is exploring how safe and effective a treatment called iodine I 131 metaiodobenzylguanidine (I-MIBG) is for patients with resistant neuroblastoma and certain types of tumors called malignant pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma. The goal is to help these patients who have not responded to other treatments.
The trial ID is NCT00107289. It is a Phase 2 trial, which means it is looking at how well the treatment works and how safe it is. This treatment is regulated by the FDA, and the study hopes to include around 200 participants.
Who can join
This trial is open to children and young adults aged 1 to 21 years. It is for those diagnosed with either neuroblastoma or malignant chromaffin cell tumors. Participants must have had a previous treatment that did not work and must be able to follow safety guidelines during the study. The trial team will confirm eligibility for each person.

What happens in the study
Participants will receive a special treatment called I-MIBG through an IV. They can get either high doses or lower doses depending on what the doctor decides. There will be thyroid protection provided before and after the treatment. Everyone will be treated in one group, and they do not have to be randomly assigned to different groups.
