Dermatologist & Mohs Surgeon, specializing in skin cancer
Dr. Anthony Rossi, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he sees patients at the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care. His clinical expertise encompasses the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of skin cancers including melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, extramammary Paget disease, and cutaneous penile carcinoma. Dr. Rossi also treats benign skin conditions and dermatologic complications arising from cancer therapy in both pediatric and adult patients. His approach to care is grounded in shared decision-making, presenting patients with the full spectrum of available options while paying close attention to quality of life, appearance, and functionality both in the near term and over time.
A dedicated researcher and innovator, Dr. Rossi focuses on noninvasive imaging technologies as a means of improving skin cancer diagnosis and management. He has significant experience using reflectance confocal microscopy to delineate tumor borders in lentigo maligna melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancers prior to surgery, and he is actively working to expand this technology's applications across skin cancer care. He also employs laser and light-based treatments to address radiation dermatitis, radiation fibrosis, and other dermatologic side effects of cancer therapy. Dr. Rossi has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on cutaneous oncology and scar treatment, and he chairs a forum at the Annual Conference of the American Academy of Dermatology on the latest advances in noninvasive imaging. His international contributions include lectures on nonsurgical and cosmetic treatments for skin cancer survivors, as well as teledermatology care provided to patients in Tanzania, Botswana, Durban, Kenya, and Ghana.
Dr. Rossi is a committed advocate for patient safety and access to care, having participated in truth-in-advertising campaigns to help consumers make well-informed decisions about skin care. In recognition of these efforts, he has received presidential service awards from the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Society for Lasers in Surgery and Medicine. He is also an active educator within MSK's continuing medical education program and contributes to the training of healthcare professionals at the national and international levels. His practice reflects a commitment to integrating surgical precision, technological innovation, and compassionate patient-centered care to improve outcomes for people with skin cancer.
