Radiation Oncologist & Early Drug Development Specialist
Dr. Brandon Imber, MD, is a radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of blood cancers and tumors affecting the brain and central nervous system. He sees patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) in Manhattan and at MSK's Regional Care Network on Long Island, where he grew up. Dr. Imber earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry from Harvard University before completing his medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco, where he dedicated an additional year to research on glioblastoma. He completed his specialty training in radiation oncology at MSK, including a clinical research fellowship in lymphoma radiation oncology, and obtained specialized clinical research training at the Harvard School of Public Health.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Imber treats patients with lymphoma, multiple myeloma, leukemia, brain metastases, and benign brain tumors using advanced radiation techniques including intensity modulated radiation therapy, image-guided radiation therapy, and MSK Precise stereotactic radiosurgery. He is a member of the Lymphoma Disease Management Team and MSK's Brain Metastasis Center, working collaboratively with medical oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and pathologists to develop personalized, evidence-based treatment plans. His research spans two primary themes: improving outcomes and reducing side effects for blood and brain cancer treatments. Current projects include combining radiation with CAR T cell therapies for aggressive lymphomas such as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, reducing the number of radiation treatments needed for less-aggressive lymphomas like cutaneous T-cell lymphomas, and evaluating new technologies for brain brachytherapy in collaboration with neurosurgery and neuro-oncology colleagues.
Deeply committed to compassionate, patient-centered care, Dr. Imber emphasizes clear communication, thorough explanation of treatment options, and strong emotional and physical support for patients and their families throughout the treatment process. He believes patients and their families should be active participants in shaping their care plans according to their individual goals and concerns. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, brewing craft coffee, running in Central Park, and hiking in upstate New York.
