In his clinical role, Dr. Sauter works as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, social workers, and other staff, bringing together expertise from multiple specialties to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care. Prior to rejoining MSK, he served as Director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Sauter's research focuses on developing new approaches in transplantation and cellular therapy to improve treatment outcomes for patients with lymphoma and leukemia. His work contributes to advancing the field by refining how stem cell transplants and cellular therapies are used to replace unhealthy blood cells and address underlying malignancies. His clinical and investigational efforts reflect a commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is achievable for patients with difficult-to-treat blood cancers.
Beyond direct patient care and research, Dr. Sauter currently serves as Medical Director of the Regional Network for MSK's Division of Hematologic Malignancies. In this capacity, he works to extend transplant and cellular therapy services across MSK's regional network through collaboration with MSK's Care Partners, with the goal of making specialized hematologic care more accessible to patients throughout the region.
