Dr. Daphna Y. Gelblum

Dr. Daphna Y. Gelblum, MD, is a radiation oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center specializing in the treatment of lung, head and neck, and gynecologic cancers. She currently practices at MSK Westchester in West Harrison, New York, where she has served as a clinical leader since the facility opened in 2014. Her background includes an engineering education that she credits as foundational to her interest in the technical precision of radiation oncology, a field she discovered during clinical rotations after working as a research assistant in a diagnostic radiology department. She began her career at MSK's Rockville Centre location on Long Island, later joining MSK Commack as Chief of Radiation Therapy in 2002, and was named Director of the Regional Radiation Oncology Clinical Research Program in 2008.

Dr. Gelblum specializes in intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy, techniques that allow high doses of radiation to be delivered precisely to cancer cells from multiple angles while protecting surrounding healthy tissue and organs. She is also an expert in stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), a highly precise approach that delivers radiation in three to five treatment sessions. Treating more than 300 patients each year, she has served as MSK's principal investigator on several national lung cancer clinical trials. Patients at MSK Westchester have access to MSK-led and national clinical trials, and the facility's integrated model of surgical, medical oncology, and radiology specialists working together allows for close multidisciplinary collaboration in treatment planning.

A core part of Dr. Gelblum's practice is the relationship she builds with her patients and their caregivers. She is committed to ensuring that every patient fully understands her recommendations and feels confident in their care. She values the ability to bring MSK's full range of advanced treatments to patients closer to home, reducing the need to travel to Manhattan while maintaining access to the same cutting-edge cancer care. Outside of medicine, she is devoted to her family and enjoys traveling, hiking, exercising, and exploring new restaurants.
