Dr. Daniel G. Petereit

Dr. Daniel G. Petereit, MD, is a respected radiation oncologist specializing in gynecologic and breast malignancies as well as health disparities in cancer care. He serves as a radiation oncologist at Monument Health Cancer Care Institute in Rapid City, South Dakota, and is a leader of the Walking Forward program, which addresses cancer inequities among Native American populations. Dr. Petereit earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed residency training in radiation oncology at the Mayo Clinic. He is board-certified in Radiation Oncology and is recognized for his dedication to advancing both clinical care and community-based research.

A pioneer in outreach and disparities-focused oncology programs, Dr. Petereit developed Walking Forward to improve access to cancer screening, patient navigation, and clinical trials for underserved populations. His work has been supported by the National Cancer Institute and has served as a model for addressing disparities in rural and Native communities. In addition to community-focused initiatives, he has expertise in brachytherapy and novel radiation techniques for gynecologic cancers.
