Medical Oncologist, Hematologist Oncologist, specializing in Hematologic Cancers
Dr. Jeffrey W. Tyner, PhD, is a distinguished cancer biologist whose research is focused on the genomics and biology of hematologic malignancies. He serves as Professor of Cell, Developmental and Cancer Biology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and is a member of the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute. Dr. Tyner earned his PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from Harvard University, followed by postdoctoral training in hematology/oncology at OHSU, where he developed his expertise in functional genomics and targeted therapy.
Dr. Tyner’s laboratory is internationally recognized for pioneering functional screening approaches to identify oncogenic drivers and therapeutic vulnerabilities in leukemias and other hematologic cancers. His research has helped define novel signaling pathways and actionable targets that guide precision therapy development. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals and has been at the forefront of integrating genomics into translational leukemia research.
In addition to his scientific contributions, Dr. Tyner is a dedicated mentor to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, many of whom have gone on to independent research careers. He has been recognized with awards for innovation and translational impact and serves on advisory boards and review panels for national funding agencies. Through his leadership in functional genomics and targeted therapy development, Dr. Jeffrey Tyner continues to shape the future of leukemia research.
