Dr. Jonathan D. Licht, MD, is an internationally recognized hematologist-oncologist specializing in leukemia, lymphoma, and the role of epigenetics in cancer development. He serves as Director of the University of Florida Health Cancer Center and holds the Marshall E. Rinker, Sr. Chair. Dr. Licht earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and trained as a hematology/oncology fellow at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.
Dr. Licht’s research focuses on understanding how chromatin-modifying enzymes and transcription factors drive the pathogenesis of hematologic malignancies. His laboratory has identified novel oncogenic mechanisms in leukemia and lymphoma and developed targeted approaches to reverse epigenetic alterations. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and has been a leader in advancing early-phase clinical trials of epigenetic therapies.
A respected leader in academic oncology, Dr. Licht has played a central role in shaping cancer research priorities at the national level through his service with the NCI, AACR, and ASH. He is also a dedicated educator and mentor, guiding fellows and junior faculty in laboratory and clinical investigation. Through his translational science and leadership in cancer center development, Dr. Jonathan Licht continues to drive innovations in hematologic oncology.
