Dr. Joshua Johnson, MD, is a nationally recognized medical oncologist specializing in thoracic malignancies, including lung cancer and mesothelioma. He serves as Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and is an active member of the University of Colorado Cancer Center, where he leads clinical and translational research programs in thoracic oncology. Dr. Johnson earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, completed his residency in internal medicine at Duke University Medical Center, and trained as a fellow in hematology/oncology at the University of Colorado. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.
Dr. Johnson’s research focuses on identifying molecular drivers of lung cancer, resistance mechanisms to targeted therapies, and the integration of immunotherapy into treatment paradigms. He has been principal investigator on numerous clinical trials exploring targeted agents, immunotherapeutics, and biomarker-guided strategies for advanced non-small cell lung cancer. His work has been published in high-impact journals and has contributed to shaping guidelines for the management of thoracic malignancies.
In addition to his research leadership, Dr. Johnson is a dedicated clinician and mentor, training oncology fellows in both patient care and clinical investigation. He frequently presents at national meetings and contributes to multi-institutional collaborations aimed at accelerating progress in thoracic oncology.
