Dr. Martin S. Tallman - Hematology and Oncology

680 N Lake Shore Drive, Suite 1000, Chicago, IL 60611
312-695-0990

Dr. Tallman directs Leukemia Translational Research and Faculty Mentorship at the Lurie Cancer Center of Northwestern University. Every new referral undergoes cytogenomic sequencing, measurable residual-disease assessment and early transplant consultation; these data guide tumour-board discussion and tailor induction, consolidation or cellular therapy to the biology of each leukemia.

A leading investigator in myeloid malignancies, he co-chairs the National Clinical Trials Network Myeloid Committee and helped shape contemporary arsenic trioxide + ATRA standards that made acute promyelocytic leukemia one of oncology’s most curable diseases. Recent phase-one work with menin and STAT3 inhibitors, presented at ASH 2024, underpins ongoing first-in-class combination studies that integrate ctDNA pharmacodynamics with single-cell transcriptomics.

Education and service frame his career. A past president of the American Society of Hematology and former chief of leukemia at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Dr. Tallman now mentors early-stage faculty across seven Midwestern centers and steers outreach clinics that bring genomic testing and trial enrollment to medically underserved Chicago neighborhoods.
