Dr. Michael Birrer, MD, PhD, is a nationally recognized gynecologic oncologist specializing in ovarian and other gynecologic malignancies. He serves as Director of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he also holds the position of Vice Chancellor. Dr. Birrer earned his MD and PhD degrees from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed residency training in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. He pursued fellowship training in medical oncology at the National Cancer Institute. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and is widely acknowledged for his expertise in translational research in ovarian cancer.
Dr. Birrer’s research focuses on identifying molecular mechanisms of ovarian cancer pathogenesis and resistance, with the goal of developing novel targeted therapies.
