Dr. Michael J. Overman

Dr. Michael J. Overman, MD, is a leading gastrointestinal medical oncologist specializing in colorectal and rare GI cancers. He serves as Professor in the Department of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Overman earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and pursued fellowship training in Medical Oncology at MD Anderson. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and is recognized for his expertise in immunotherapy and biomarker-driven treatment strategies for colorectal cancer.

Dr. Overman has led pioneering clinical trials investigating immune checkpoint inhibitors in microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) colorectal cancers, contributing significantly to establishing immunotherapy as a standard of care for this patient subset.
