Dr. Thomas J. Ow, MD, MS, is a highly experienced head and neck surgeon specializing in the treatment of both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors of the head and neck. With more than a decade in practice and hundreds of complex surgeries performed, he brings deep surgical expertise to a wide range of conditions, including skin cancers of the face, nose, scalp, ear, lip, and neck, as well as tumors of the mouth, larynx, throat, salivary glands, and thyroid and parathyroid glands. Dr. Ow sees patients at the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and at Memorial Sloan Kettering Commack on Long Island. He is known for his patient-centered approach, taking the time to address each patient's questions thoroughly and coordinating care through a multidisciplinary team of specialists.
Dr. Ow has maintained an active commitment to clinical trials and translational research throughout his career, with all of his research focused on improving the understanding and treatment of head and neck cancers. A significant portion of his work has examined genomic and molecular biomarkers in head and neck malignancies, with the goal of advancing more precise and effective therapies. His research has received funding from the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the Triological Society, and the National Institutes of Health. He serves as Chair of the Cutaneous Cancer Section of the American Head and Neck Society and as President of The New York Head and Neck Society, reflecting his leadership and influence within the field.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Ow is a firm believer in wellness and balance. He is an avid runner and plays trumpet in a local rock band, and he enjoys musical theater and Broadway shows with his wife and three daughters. He follows all Chicago sports teams with equal enthusiasm and is passionate about fly fishing.
