About this trial
This study looks at collecting tissue samples from patients who have certain types of solid tumors, like colorectal or pancreatic cancer. Researchers want to use these samples to learn more about tumors and find better ways to treat them. The samples will come from people who are already scheduled for surgery or a biopsy at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center.
The trial ID is NCT01915225. This is an observational study, meaning it collects data without giving any new treatments. It aims to enroll about 1,800 participants.
Who can join
Adults 18 years and older with a solid tumor can join. Children ages 2 to 17 can also participate if they have a biopsy or surgery as part of their medical care. The trial team will check to make sure everyone meets the eligibility requirements.
Conditions
Colorectal Neoplasms, Gastric Neoplasms, Cholangiocarcinoma, Bile Duct Cancer, Pancreas Cancer
The study team makes the final call on eligibility.
What happens in the study
Participants will have a small blood sample taken before their procedure. Some may have a procedure called leukapheresis to collect white blood cells. During the surgery or biopsy, pieces of the tumor and nearby normal tissue will be collected. Everyone will return for a checkup about 6 weeks later.
