About this trial
This study looks at how pulmonary suffusion can help control leftover cancer cells in patients with sarcoma or colorectal cancer that has spread to the lungs. Pulmonary suffusion is a way to deliver chemotherapy directly to the lungs using a drug called cisplatin. The main goal is to see how safe this treatment is and how well it works to reduce the chance of the cancer returning.
The trial's ID number is NCT03965234. It is a Phase I/II study, meaning it is looking at safety and how well the treatment works. This study is regulated by the FDA and hopes to include about 99 participants.
Who can join
This trial is open to adults aged 18 and older, including both men and women. To join, participants must have certain types of lung tumors and meet specific health requirements. Those who have recently received chemotherapy or have certain medical conditions may not be able to join. The trial team will confirm who is eligible.
Conditions
Metastatic Bone Sarcoma, Metastatic Malignant Neoplasm in the Lung, Metastatic Soft Tissue Sarcoma, Metastatic Unresectable Sarcoma, Resectable Sarcoma, Colorectal Cancer
Age group
Adult, Older adult
The study team makes the final call on eligibility.
What happens in the study
Participants will receive cisplatin through a procedure called pulmonary suffusion, which delivers the drug directly to the lungs. After this, they will undergo a surgery called metastasectomy to remove the tumors. If any tumors cannot be removed, participants may receive more chemotherapy within a few weeks after surgery.
