About this trial
This trial looks at how well endocrine therapy works for older women with estrogen receptor positive breast cancer. It focuses on those who have a lower chance of their cancer coming back. The goal is to see if this treatment alone can control the cancer without needing other treatments right away. Researchers believe this approach could help many women aged 70 and older.
The trial's ID number is NCT02476786. This is a Phase 2 trial, meaning it is studying how well the treatment works and its safety. It is FDA-regulated and aims to include 50 participants.
Who can join
Women aged 70 and older can join if they have newly diagnosed operable breast cancer that is estrogen receptor positive and HER2 negative. They must be able to understand and sign a consent form and have measurable tumors. However, those who have had prior surgery for this cancer or other health issues that could affect the study cannot participate. The trial team will confirm who is eligible.

What happens in the study
Participants will receive endocrine therapy, which may include medicines like goserelin, anastrozole, or tamoxifen, among others. They will have regular check-ups every 3 to 6 months to monitor their progress. The doctors will decide how often visits occur. After 6 and 12 months, patients will be assessed, and if needed, standard care will be suggested.
