Dr. Rebecca L. Aft

Dr. Rebecca L. Aft, MD, PhD, is a respected surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer. She serves as Professor of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine and is affiliated with Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Siteman Cancer Center. Dr. Aft earned her medical degree and doctorate from Saint Louis University and completed her residency in general surgery at Jewish Hospital of St. Louis. She pursued fellowship training in surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, equipping her with advanced expertise in the management of complex breast malignancies. She is board-certified in Surgery and recognized for her clinical excellence in breast cancer treatment and reconstruction.

Dr. Aft’s research has focused on the biology of breast cancer metastasis and the effects of systemic therapies on bone marrow–derived stem cells. Her investigations have advanced understanding of how the bone marrow microenvironment influences cancer progression and recurrence.
