About this trial
This trial looks at endocrine neoplasms, which are tumors that can occur in glands like the thyroid and adrenal glands. These tumors can be hard to tell apart when it comes to being benign (not harmful) or malignant (harmful). The main goal is to collect samples from patients who are having surgery or a biopsy so researchers can learn more about these tumors. This knowledge can help improve how we detect and treat these conditions.
This trial is identified by NCT01005654. It is an observational study, meaning it is looking at how things happen without changing the treatment. The study is not regulated by the FDA for drugs or devices. They hope to include around 2,415 participants.
Who can join
This trial is open to both men and women aged 4 years and older who have an endocrine tumor or a related condition that needs surgery or a biopsy. Participants will be part of their treatment plan and must meet certain health criteria. The trial team will confirm who can join.
Conditions
Endocrine Tumors, Thyroid Neoplasms, Parathyroid Neoplasms, Adrenal Neoplasm, Neuroblastoma
The study team makes the final call on eligibility.
What happens in the study
Participants will give blood and urine samples before their surgery. During the surgery or biopsy, pieces of the tumor or growth, along with normal tissue nearby, will be collected for research. After surgery, participants will receive routine care and may discuss treatment options. They will return for a follow-up visit about six weeks later and may have yearly check-ins.
