Dr. Halmos directs Thoracic Oncology and Clinical Cancer Genomics at Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center and holds professorships in medical oncology and medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His clinic begins with multiparametric chest CT, PSMA-PET–CT when indicated, and broad next-generation sequencing; these data frame tumour-board conversations that balance oncologic control with patient-reported goals.
A translational scientist, he established a thoracic-malignancy biorepository now exceeding ten-thousand specimens and has co-led studies that clarified resistance to EGFR, ALK and KRAS-G12C inhibitors. His 2021 Cancer Cell paper on COVID-19 vaccine immunogenicity in cancer patients helped shape CDC guidance for booster scheduling. Current grants test ctDNA-directed peri-operative therapy and bispecific antibodies for MET-exon-14–positive tumours.
Mentorship and equity underpin his programme. Dr. Halmos chairs Montefiore’s KL2 young-investigator academy, co-hosts bilingual lung-cancer screening webinars for Bronx neighbourhoods and advises NCCN on guideline integration of real-time genomics. These roles illustrate a philosophy that technical innovation must travel with workforce training and community access.
