Dr. Deirdre J. Cohen - Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology

1470 Madison Avenue, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10029
212-241-6756

Dr. Cohen directs the Gastrointestinal Oncology Program for the Mount Sinai Health System and leads the Cancer Clinical Trials Office at the Tisch Cancer Institute. Her clinic integrates germ-line testing, tumour genomic sequencing, and measurable-residual-disease assays before systemic therapy is chosen, aligning treatment with each tumour’s biology and the patient’s personal goals.

Translational research anchors her practice. She designs immune-targeted and epigenetic studies that pair checkpoint blockade or novel small molecules with cytotoxic backbones. Recent work explores OxPhos inhibition plus bevacizumab in refractory metastatic colorectal cancer and antibiotic modulation of pancreatic-cancer outcomes. Federal and foundation grants support these trials, illustrating her track record of converting laboratory insights into first-in-human protocols.

Education and service complete her profile. An associate professor of medicine, Dr. Cohen mentors fellows in protocol writing and chairs NCI Gastrointestinal Task-Force working groups. Community programs that provide navigation and early screening for underserved patients reflect her commitment to equitable access to evidence-based oncology.
