Dr. Douglas W. Sborov, MD, MS, is a hematologist-oncologist specializing in multiple myeloma and related plasma cell disorders. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine and serves as Director of the Multiple Myeloma Program at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Dr. Sborov earned his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, completed residency training at the University of Utah, and fellowship training in hematology/oncology at The Ohio State University, where he also earned a master’s degree in medical science. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.
Dr. Sborov’s research focuses on novel therapeutic strategies for multiple myeloma, including the development of CAR T-cell therapies, bispecific antibodies, and small-molecule inhibitors. He has been actively involved in clinical trials exploring new treatment paradigms for relapsed/refractory myeloma and is engaged in translational research aimed at identifying biomarkers for disease progression and therapy response. His work has contributed to expanding the range of effective treatment options for patients with advanced disease.
As a leader in myeloma research, Dr. Sborov collaborates with national and international consortia to accelerate drug development. He is a dedicated mentor to fellows and junior faculty and is committed to improving patient outcomes through innovative research, education, and compassionate care.
