Dr. Joel Michalski, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist specializing in the treatment of prostate, bladder, and other genitourinary malignancies. He serves as Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and practices at the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center. Dr. Michalski earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed his residency training in radiation oncology at Washington University in St. Louis, where he later joined the faculty.
Dr. Michalski is widely recognized for his expertise in advanced radiation therapy techniques, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), and image-guided radiation therapy. His research has focused on optimizing treatment delivery to improve cancer control while minimizing side effects, particularly in prostate cancer. He has served as principal investigator on national clinical trials, including NRG Oncology studies, that have defined modern standards for radiation therapy in localized and advanced prostate cancer.
