Dr. John P. Diaz

Dr. John P. Diaz, MD, is a nationally esteemed gynecologic oncologist and a leading expert in robotic and minimally invasive surgery for women’s cancers. He serves as Chief of Gynecologic Oncology and Medical Director of Robotic Surgery at Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health South Florida. Dr. Diaz earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He went on to complete a prestigious fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Board-certified in both Obstetrics & Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology, Dr. Diaz is known for his advanced surgical expertise and his commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

A pioneer in robotic surgery, Dr. Diaz has performed thousands of minimally invasive procedures, significantly improving recovery outcomes for patients with ovarian, cervical, endometrial, and other gynecologic cancers. He leads one of the most comprehensive robotic surgery programs in the region and is actively involved in research focused on hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), immunotherapy, and combination treatment strategies involving PARP inhibitors. His work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals, and he regularly presents at national meetings, including the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. His clinical trials leadership has earned him recognition as an innovator in surgical oncology and translational research.

In addition to his clinical and academic leadership, Dr. Diaz is a respected educator and mentor, holding faculty appointments at Florida International University. He is actively involved in training residents and fellows and contributes to national committees focused on improving outcomes in gynecologic oncology.
