Dr. Maha H. Hussain, MD, FACP, FASCO, is an internationally recognized medical oncologist specializing in genitourinary malignancies, with a particular focus on prostate and bladder cancers. She serves as the Genevieve Teuton Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and as Deputy Director of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Hussain earned her medical degree from Baghdad University College of Medicine in Iraq and completed her residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University, followed by fellowship training in hematology/oncology at the University of Michigan. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology and is highly regarded for her leadership in clinical and translational research in prostate cancer.
Dr. Hussain has been a principal investigator on numerous phase II and phase III clinical trials that have defined standards of care in advanced prostate cancer, including pivotal studies of androgen receptor inhibitors and targeted therapies. Her translational research has focused on disease biology, prognostic and predictive biomarkers, and therapeutic sequencing. She has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and has been recognized as a leading voice in genitourinary oncology.
In addition to her clinical and research achievements, Dr. Hussain is a committed mentor and educator. She has held leadership roles in the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and has served on advisory panels for the National Cancer Institute.
