Dr. Morrow leads the Breast Service in the Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and holds the Anne Burnett Windfohr Chair of Clinical Oncology, positions that allow her to shape institutional policy and national standards simultaneously. Earlier leadership roles at Northwestern University and Fox Chase Cancer Center strengthened her multidisciplinary approach to integrating surgery with systemic and radiation therapies.

Her research clarified that wider margins do not improve outcomes for most breast tumors and ductal carcinoma in situ; as SSO president she co-chaired consensus panels that codified the “no tumor on ink” standard for invasive cancer and the 2-mm rule for DCIS, sharply reducing re-excision rates nationwide. Prospective cohorts she directs are testing active surveillance for selected low-grade lesions, yielding early safety signals that observation can rival surgery in disease control while preserving quality of life.

Peer recognition includes the Susan G. Komen Brinker Award for Scientific Distinction, the Society of Surgical Oncology John Wayne Clinical Research Award, and the St Gallen International Breast Cancer Award for lifetime contribution to surgical oncology. She serves as associate editor for JAMA Oncology and co-edits the textbook Diseases of the Breast, disseminating evidence-based practice worldwide.
